The Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council provides compassionate, professional services for substance use and misuse across Deep East Texas. The organization operates an outpatient treatment program focused on recovery and maintenance from abuse and addiction of mind-altering chemicals. Their program philosophy is rooted in the belief that chemical dependency is a progressive, chronic disease that can be managed with long-term treatment, emphasizing abstinence from all mind-changing chemicals. Treatment includes family and significant other involvement, as well as connections to 12-step and other local support groups. The Council operates three offices serving twelve counties: the main office in Lufkin, Texas, along with offices in Nacogdoches and Beaumont. Their service area includes Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, and Tyler counties, with expanded OSAR (Outreach, Screening, Assessment and Referral) services in additional counties including Hardin, Jefferson, and Orange.
