About Spurwink Services
Spurwink is a behavioral health and substance use disorder services provider founded in 1960 in Portland, Maine. Originally established with one house serving eight boys, the organization has grown to nearly 1,000 employees operating an active residential campus for children, 22 group home settings for adults, one intermediate care facility group home, one nursing home/intermediate care facility, and four day treatment special purpose private schools including a preschool. Services are provided across the state and include outpatient therapy, behavioral health home services, treatment foster care, public school counseling, trauma therapy for refugees, forensic child abuse evaluations, a crisis center, and opioid health homes. The organization serves people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, and their families, using evidence-based practices as the foundation of clinical work.
