About Responsibility House

Responsibility House is a private non-profit organization in the Greater New Orleans area serving individuals and families struggling with substance abuse, chronic homelessness, mental illness, and HIV/AIDS. Founded in 1994 by Mike Martyn as a residential treatment center for substance use disorders, the organization expanded in 2000 to include supportive housing programs based on the Housing First model. RH provides treatment, support, counseling, and case management services to underserved, indigent, and disabled populations in the Greater New Orleans community. The organization operates outpatient programs at two levels, residential treatment programs that include alcohol and drug education over a three-month period, and supportive housing services. RH emphasizes a people-driven, integrated approach to treatment that addresses the interconnected issues of homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse.
