Prediction market
How to quit Polymarket
Crypto-based prediction market where you trade contracts on real-world events. This page walks through how to close your account, enroll in self-exclusion, and find gambling-recovery support that fits your insurance.

1. Close your Polymarket account
Support channel: A help desk at help.polymarket.com. No published closure form and no support email.
- 1Withdraw your balance first. Funds sit in a wallet you control, so nothing comes back to you automatically once you stop logging in.
- 2Move the remaining crypto somewhere you cannot spend from quickly, or off the exchange entirely.
- 3Ask the help desk to close the account. There is no documented process, so treat this as a request, not a guarantee.
- 4Because the platform will not lock you out, put the block outside it: DNS or router-level blocking covers every device on your network, which an app deletion does not.
- 5Block the site in your browser and on your phone, and hand the password for whatever tool you use to someone else.
- 6Revoke the wallet connection, and consider a fresh wallet address so the funding path is not one tap away.
Note. This is the honest version: with no self-exclusion to sign, every durable barrier here is one you build yourself or with someone else. That is more work, and it is also why doing it with another person tends to hold.
2. Lock yourself out another way
Closing your Polymarket account does not stop you from signing up elsewhere, and here the usual backstop does not apply.
Polymarket has no self-exclusion
Polymarket does not offer self-exclusion, deposit limits, cooling-off periods, or a published account-closure process. Checked 2026-08-28 against its own documentation and help centre. Your state registry does not cover it either: it is a CFTC-regulated prediction market, not a state-licensed operator, so the register that binds every sportsbook in your state does not reach it.
3. Block the app on your phone
Deletion is not enough. Apps can be reinstalled in seconds. Gamban, BetBlocker, and phone-level restrictions (iOS Screen Time, Android Family Link) all make reinstalling much harder. Hand the passcode to someone you trust, not yourself.

Closed accounts are a marketing problem for operators. Expect outreach. Being ready for it matters.
- →Markets settle continuously and resolve around news, so there is always a live reason to reopen it.
- →It reads as forecasting rather than betting, which makes it easy to tell yourself this one is different.
- →Self-custody crypto means no bank sits between you and a deposit, and no one can decline the transaction for you.
Get recovery support
Closing one platform is the start, not the solution. Gambling disorder is a behavioral addiction recognized in the DSM-5, and it responds to real treatment: CBT, peer support, medication management in some cases, and community.
