WTCR is one of the longest-serving medication-assisted treatment networks in Texas specializing in methadone and buprenorphine treatment and counseling for individuals suffering from opioid use disorder (OUD). The practice treats OUD as a chronic but treatable medical illness and combines opiate agonist therapy with counseling and therapeutic interventions. The treatment team consists of licensed practitioners including counselors and physicians who develop formal treatment plans with patients. WTCR's approach recognizes that medication and counseling in combination are superior to either modality alone, and the practice facilitates medically supervised withdrawal when appropriate while acknowledging that OUD may require long-term treatment.
