The Indian Health Service (IHS) is the Federal Health Program for American Indians and Alaska Natives, operating under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It provides comprehensive health care services, including behavioral health and community health programs, to eligible individuals. The IHS aims to deliver care through a "Partnership Built – Technology Driven – Patient Centered" approach. Services encompass Health & Wellness Programs and include a Telebehavioral Health Center of Excellence. The IHS maintains its headquarters in Rockville and manages numerous Area Offices across the United States. These offices include Alaska, Albuquerque, Bemidji, Billings, California, Great Plains, Nashville, Navajo, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Portland, and Tucson. The service also operates Youth Regional Treatment Centers. The IHS offers various resources for patients, healthcare providers, and communities, with a focus on improving overall health outcomes and implementing injury and violence prevention initiatives.
