West Texas VA Healthcare Services

The VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) provides mental health services to Veterans of all service eras, including those from Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraq War, Gulf War, Cold War, Vietnam War, Korean War, and World War II. Services are available for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, military sexual trauma, suicide prevention, substance use problems, and other mental health needs. Over 1.7 million Veterans received mental health services at the VA last year. Services range from peer support with other Veterans to counseling, therapy, medication, or combinations of these options. Mental health services are accessible through VA medical centers and Vet Centers, available 24/7 for crisis support. Services can be accessed regardless of discharge status or current VA health care enrollment. Telemental health services are available for those unable to visit facilities in person, along with self-help portals, smartphone apps, and peer assistance programs.
