Great to meet you

Vinland National Center is a residential behavioral health facility specializing in addiction treatment for individuals with cognitive disabilities. Since 1990, Vinland has provided drug and alcohol addiction treatment services and was the first center in the country to design a treatment program specifically for individuals living with brain injuries. The center serves males only and offers a comprehensive, whole-person approach addressing mind, body, and spirit. Services include conventional addiction treatment along with complementary care such as therapeutic exercise, nutrition, mental health education, and recreational activities. Vinland is recognized nationally for treating individuals with traumatic brain injuries, mental illness, learning disabilities, and other cognitive disabilities, particularly those who have been unsuccessful in traditional treatment settings.

Evidence-based approaches

Group therapy

Group Therapy. A small facilitated circle where people working on similar struggles practice naming what is hard, hearing themselves in others, and learning skills together. The room is the medicine.

Trauma-informed care

Trauma-Informed Care. Approaches addiction as something layered on top of unprocessed trauma, not in isolation. Pacing matters more than confrontation.

Holistic

Holistic Care. Adds nutrition, sleep, movement, and mind-body practices alongside the clinical work. Recovery is whole-person; the body matters too.
