This is the VA mental health services program for veterans. The service provides mental health care for conditions including PTSD, depression, military sexual trauma, suicide prevention, anxiety, and substance use problems. Services are available to veterans regardless of discharge status or enrollment in VA health care. Care options range from peer support with other veterans to counseling, therapy, medication, or combinations thereof. Services can be accessed through VA medical centers, Vet Centers, telemental health programs, online self-help portals, smartphone apps, and peer assistance programs. Crisis support is available 24/7 through the Veterans Crisis Line. The program serves over 1.7 million veterans annually and aims to help veterans take charge of their treatment and live meaningful lives.
