This is a VA mental health services program that provides support to Veterans across multiple service eras including Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraq War, Gulf War, Cold War Era, Vietnam War, Korean War, and World War II. The program offers mental health services for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, military sexual trauma (MST), suicide prevention, substance use problems, and other mental health needs. Services are available regardless of discharge status or enrollment in VA health care and can be accessed by calling or walking in to any VA medical center or Vet Center. The program provides peer support with other Veterans, counseling, therapy, medication, and combinations of these options. Over 1.7 million Veterans received mental health services through this program in the prior year. Telemental health services are available via computer or mobile device, and self-help resources including the Veteran Training online portal and mental health apps are offered to support treatment and recovery.
