About this practice
About
UAB Beacon Recovery is an outpatient substance use disorder treatment program for adults and adolescents located on the 3rd floor of the tower at 530 Beacon Parkway W., Birmingham, AL 35209. The program is certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health and serves patients who are uninsured or have Medicaid coverage. About 50% of patients are self-referred, while others are referred by legal and medical entities. The program operates between 8 am and 8 pm Monday through Friday and does not offer weekend services. Services are offered at multiple levels of care including Intensive Outpatient (IOP) for adults with moderate to severe substance use disorder, requiring a minimum of 9 hours per week, and standard Outpatient programs for those with mild to moderate substance use disorder. The program uses secure, government-compliant telehealth software for most services except day treatment and most medical services. Patients work with intake counselors to develop treatment plans and may be assigned to primary counselors for therapy and physicians for further evaluation. On-site Beacon Integrated Healthcare provides psychiatric evaluations, primary medical care, and medication-assisted treatment.
