True Counseling Services IncTherapist in Richmond, VA
Great to meet you
True Counseling Services Inc. was founded in 2015 by two millennial women to provide mental health services to children and families. The practice began by addressing the needs of children suffering from sexual abuse, mental and emotional abuse, and other traumas, creating a safe space for healing within the home. The company expanded to offer Mental Health Skill Building and Crisis Stabilization for adults within the children's lives. The practice aims to provide holistic care to the family dynamic and foster a space of healing, health, and wellness. True Counseling Services is a women-owned and Black-owned business that works to positively impact children and families to lead healthy and fulfilling lives by promoting personal and clinical recovery and teaching positive coping skills and resilience through clinical interventions.

Evidence-based approaches
Cognitive behavioral therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Spots the thought-feeling-action loops that fuel urges, then rewires them with practical skills you take into the moment.
Couples/family therapy
Family Therapy. Brings the people closest to the recovery into the room. Less about blame, more about updating the patterns that fed the cycle so the home becomes part of the recovery.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy
A therapeutic approach included in this provider’s plan of care. Contact for specifics on how it shows up in their work.
Group therapy
Group Therapy. A small facilitated circle where people working on similar struggles practice naming what is hard, hearing themselves in others, and learning skills together. The room is the medicine.
Individual psychotherapy
Individual Psychotherapy. One-to-one sessions with a licensed clinician. The standard-bearer of mental-health care; most evidence-based plans build around it.
Telemedicine/telehealth therapy
Telehealth Therapy. Real clinical sessions delivered over video. Same evidence base as in-person care for most conditions; meets you where you actually are instead of where the office is.
