The VA offers a range of services including peer support with other Veterans, counseling, therapy, medication, or a combination of these options. Services address PTSD, depression, anxiety, military sexual trauma (MST), suicide prevention, and substance use problems. Veterans can access care through VA medical centers, Vet Centers, or through telehealth options including the VA telemental health program, online self-help tools via the Veteran Training portal, and mental health apps. Over 1.7 million Veterans received mental health services at the VA in the past year. Services are available 24/7 crisis support through the Veterans Crisis Line, and Veterans do not need to be enrolled in VA health care or have specific discharge status to access services.
