UNC Horizons is a substance use disorder treatment program for women, including those who are pregnant, parenting, and those whose lives have been touched by abuse and violence. It is a program of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UNC-Chapel Hill with sites in Orange and Wake Counties. The program provides comprehensive, recovery-focused treatment including residential and outpatient services. Services include prenatal, post-partum and family planning care, psychiatric services, individual and group counseling, and medication to treat opioid use disorder. The program also offers assistance with employment, budgeting, financial management, relationship building, and healing from abuse and violence. The program uses a trauma-responsive model of care focused on the mother and child to heal the whole family. All clients and residing and visiting children must agree to vaccinations to be eligible.
