Great to meet you

Southern Indian Health Council is a Native American health organization founded in 1982 that serves a seven-tribe consortium in southern San Diego County, including the Barona, Campo, Ewiiaapaayp, Jamul, La Posta, Manzanita, and Viejas tribes. Located on 10 acres in Alpine, the organization provides comprehensive integrated health care services including medical, dental, pharmacy, behavioral health, social services, community health, and youth programs through its Boys and Girls Club. The organization is committed to providing holistic, trauma-informed care that honors American Indian values and traditions while addressing the physical, mental, and spiritual health needs of Native American communities and the general public in San Diego County.

Role

IOP Program

Evidence-based approaches

Trauma-informed care

Trauma-Informed Care. Approaches addiction as something layered on top of unprocessed trauma, not in isolation. Pacing matters more than confrontation.

Holistic

Holistic Care. Adds nutrition, sleep, movement, and mind-body practices alongside the clinical work. Recovery is whole-person; the body matters too.
