Great to meet you

The Pierce County Alliance (PCA) has provided behavioral health services for over 50 years, specializing in substance use disorder treatment, mental health therapy, and domestic violence intervention. The agency operates felony drug courts, family recovery courts, and youth services programs in partnership with Pierce County courts and corrections. PCA addresses co-occurring disorders of substance use and mental health through integrated treatment. In response to opioid and fentanyl crises, the agency developed a robust opioid treatment program using medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) to improve treatment retention and outcomes. PCA provides on-site treatment within Pierce County Jail, recovery navigation services, and community re-entry programs for those released from institutions. The agency serves youth in transition to independent adulthood and provides drug court services to Thurston County Therapeutic Superior Court.

Evidence-based approaches

Cognitive behavioral therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Spots the thought-feeling-action loops that fuel urges, then rewires them with practical skills you take into the moment.

Dialectical behavior therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Pairs acceptance with change. Especially useful when emotions feel too big to ride out without acting on them.

Group therapy

Group Therapy. A small facilitated circle where people working on similar struggles practice naming what is hard, hearing themselves in others, and learning skills together. The room is the medicine.

Integrated mental and substance use disorder treatment

Integrated Treatment. Treats addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions in the same plan, rather than sequentially. Most clinically effective when both are present.

Individual psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy. One-to-one sessions with a licensed clinician. The standard-bearer of mental-health care; most evidence-based plans build around it.

Telemedicine/telehealth therapy

Telehealth Therapy. Real clinical sessions delivered over video. Same evidence base as in-person care for most conditions; meets you where you actually are instead of where the office is.
