The VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) provides mental health services to Veterans and transitioning service members. Services include peer support with other Veterans, counseling, therapy, and medication for conditions including PTSD, depression, military sexual trauma, anxiety, grief, and substance use problems. Care is available through VA medical centers, Vet Centers, and telemental health programs. Veterans can access services via phone, in-person at facilities, or online. The VA served over 1.7 million Veterans for mental health care in the prior year. Services are available to Veterans regardless of discharge status or enrollment status in VA health care.
