Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) is a governmental agency providing person-centered support and services to eligible individuals with mental illness, addictive disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities in Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard parishes in the New Orleans area. The agency treats individuals suffering from mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD, as well as addiction to alcohol, opioids, cocaine, and gambling. MHSD also serves individuals with intellectual or physical impairments occurring before age 22. The organization prioritizes pregnant women who are substance users, women with dependent children who are substance users, and intravenous drug users, offering no wait for addiction services to these populations.
