The VA provides mental health services to Veterans across multiple eras of military service, including Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraq War, Gulf War, Cold War Era, Vietnam War, Korean War, and World War II. Services address PTSD, depression, suicide prevention, military sexual trauma, anxiety, substance use problems, exposure to hazardous materials, and grief. The VA offers a range of treatment options including peer support with other Veterans, counseling, therapy, and medication. Services are available through VA medical centers and Vet Centers with no requirement to be enrolled in VA health care or have a specific discharge status. Mental health services can be accessed by calling a VA medical center, visiting a Vet Center, or calling 877-222-8387 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. The Veterans Crisis Line is available 24/7 by calling 988 and selecting option 1, or by text to 838255.
