The Psychiatry Residency program in Vincennes is part of Indiana University School of Medicine's Southwest Indiana Consortium. The program expands resident training opportunities across hospitals in southern Indiana, providing comprehensive broad-based education in clinical psychiatric diagnosis and treatment in a community setting. Residents train with patients presenting a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses while working with a community mental health center that provides wrap-around services. The program emphasizes integrated models of care, with residents working alongside inter-professional students, primary care physicians, and specialty physicians to increase access to psychiatric services in underserved communities. Residents develop expertise in current therapies and treatment modalities while having the opportunity to follow patients throughout their care.
