About this practice
About
Hunter Health is a community health center in Wichita that was established to provide healthcare services for Native Americans. The organization was founded in 1978 after initially operating out of a room at the Mid-America All-Indian Center. The first facility opened at a Central and Grove location in a strip mall, becoming the first facility to provide healthcare for Native Americans in Wichita. By 1980, Hunter Health was able to expand its services with federal funding, making it the first program of its kind in Kansas. The clinic was renamed Hunter Health in 1985 in honor of Jay and Vera Hunter, revered Native American elders and educators. The practice later relocated to 527 N. Grove.
