Healing Place of New Hanover County

The Healing Place of New Hanover County (THPNC) is a peer-driven recovery organization serving individuals affected by addiction and homelessness at zero cost to clients. Located in Wilmington, North Carolina at 1000 Medical Center Drive, the organization offers multiple levels of care including a non-medical detox program, long-term residential recovery program, and overnight emergency shelter with 14 beds (7 for males, 7 for females). The detox program provides a medication-free environment. The long-term recovery program addresses physical, emotional, and social aspects of addiction through education, peer support, and mentorship. The organization also operates a community kitchen providing free meals and a clothing closet. Founded almost 35 years ago, The Healing Place model has been replicated more than 15 times across the country.
