First Step Farm of WNC Inc

First Step Farm of WNC, Inc. is a private, non-profit residential supervised living center chartered in 1976. Located in Candler, NC in the Pisgah Mountains of Western North Carolina near Asheville, the organization serves substance dependent adults from all 100 counties of North Carolina. Licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the program is operated by qualified, licensed staff many of whom are in recovery. First Step Farm promotes self-determined recovery from chemical dependency through a unique alternative program incorporating work therapy, counseling, and self-help meetings coordinated around 12 Step fellowships of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. The program aims to restore residents' self-respect and esteem, increase vocational and social skills, improve physical health, and support sustained abstinence through positive influences and personal accomplishment.
