High Point Clinic is the only independent non-profit medication assisted treatment facility in Tennessee, providing evidence-based addiction medicine treatment. Founded in 2012 and accepting its first patient on January 1, 2013, the clinic is associated with ETSU and provides education to medical students, residents, and counseling students about addiction medicine. The practice offers extensive case management services, works with physicians trained in family medicine with additional training in addiction treatment, and employs master's-level counselors specializing in addiction. The clinic uses the MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) model for maintenance treatment of opioid addiction, offering the option to taper patients to the lowest possible dose without forced tapering. Treatment is approached holistically, considering physical, psychological, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual aspects of substance use disorders.
