About this practice

About

Deaf Reach, Inc. is a non-profit agency founded in 1972 that serves Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals with special needs, particularly those experiencing behavioral health concerns, developmental disabilities, or social and economic disadvantage. Located in Northeast Washington's Brookland community, the agency provides housing, counseling, housing placement assistance, life skills training, information and referral to community services, and socialization activities. The organization originated from efforts to address the isolation of Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C., and established Otis House, the first group home in the nation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals with behavioral health concerns.
