About Community Psychiatric Institute
CPI is a multi-modal comprehensive behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment organization located in Essex County, New Jersey. The agency was founded in 1972 by Alan Furst, LCSW and his father, William Furst, MD, who pioneered alternative treatments to psychiatric hospitalization for persons with serious and persistent mental illness.
