Capital District Psychiatric Center is one of 24 state-run psychiatric facilities in New York State. It provides inpatient psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation to patients diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illnesses, particularly those who have not had success in short-term treatment at community hospital mental health units. The facility operates in collaboration with local agencies to ensure long-lasting recovery and support. Services include inpatient treatment for ages 18 and over, outpatient treatment for children, adolescents, and adults, and three adult community residences. The center serves Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Warren, Washington, Schoharie, Columbia and Greene counties. The facility's rehabilitation model includes program-based treatment and centralized skill-building groups with goals to improve symptoms, cultivate self-esteem, and create successful experiences for patients.
