About
Beckman Center for Mental Health Services is a comprehensive community mental health center serving Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Saluda, and Newberry counties in South Carolina. Founded in 1963 as the Area Five Mental Health Center, it was renamed in 1966 to honor W.P. Beckman, M.D., a pioneer in the community mental health movement. The center operates as a National Health Service Corps Site with six office locations. Services include evidence-based psychiatric treatment, counseling, outpatient programs, medication management, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The center serves adults, children, and families and offers telehealth services through an integrated technology infrastructure that allows psychiatrists to provide care across clinic locations. The center accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP, and does not deny services based on race, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or inability to pay.
