ASCEND Counseling and Recovery Services, operating under the parent organization Surviving Our Losses (and Continuing Everyday), Inc. (S.O.L.A.C.E.), was founded in 2010 as a grief support group in Portsmouth, Ohio. It became a state-certified outpatient provider in 2015 through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. ASCEND provides holistic, person-centered, evidence-based outpatient treatment for substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Services include behavioral and mental health counseling, substance use counseling, peer support recovery services, medication-assisted recovery anonymous meetings, on-site GED classes, and transportation assistance. The organization serves all clients regardless of ability to pay and offers sliding scale discounts based on family size and income.
