The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is the sole government agency responsible for improving the health of Anne Arundel County, established in October 1930. The department is charged with enforcement of federal, State and County laws and regulations. In addition to regulatory and enforcement work, the Department directly provides mandated, delegated and locally-initiated public health services. The department operates with nearly 700 employees including physicians, nurses, social workers, sanitarians, counselors, therapists and other allied health and support personnel. The Department serves Anne Arundel County, Maryland and provides services that include behavioral health, disease prevention, emergency preparedness, environmental health, family health, and school health.
