Great to meet you
Alpha House is a community-focused, non-profit residential treatment facility located in Pittsburgh that has provided substance use disorder treatment and support for over 50 years since 1971. The organization operates a licensed 30-bed inpatient residential facility along with an outpatient program. Alpha House employs a "whole person" or holistic, habilitative approach to recovery that addresses underlying issues impacting substance use, including family issues, trauma, generational oppression, and adverse life events. The program provides group therapy, individual therapy, educational support, occupational support, peer-focused support, legal support, daily life skills training, and therapeutic outings. Staff help residents develop daily structure and prosocial behaviors while reconnecting with themselves and others. The program is particularly focused on individuals who need additional support, including those with a forensic background. Alpha House recognizes the social determinants of health and intersectional issues that affect wellness and long-term recovery.

Recovery focus
Evidence-based approaches
Group therapy
Group Therapy. A small facilitated circle where people working on similar struggles practice naming what is hard, hearing themselves in others, and learning skills together. The room is the medicine.
Holistic
Holistic Care. Adds nutrition, sleep, movement, and mind-body practices alongside the clinical work. Recovery is whole-person; the body matters too.
Trauma-informed care
Trauma-Informed Care. Approaches addiction as something layered on top of unprocessed trauma, not in isolation. Pacing matters more than confrontation.
