After graduating from The Ohio State University, he moved on to complete a psychiatric residency at the National Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD. He was stationed at Oakland Naval Hospital as a staff psychiatrist. After discharge, he had a large private practice in the Seattle area since 1991.
